After radical redefinition of the relationship between public and private space that took place in the 1990s in the Qyteti Studenti (Student City), the now highly fragmented campus can be read as a sequence of thresholds. As the map shows, the closer one gets to the perimeter —the area of minor resistance, due to uncertainty regarding the actual boundaries of state property— the more evident the erosion of public and open areas, which are still substantial at its core.
